Ragdoll Breeders Guide
Are you looking for a Ragdoll breeder, a seal point ragdoll, or a Ragdoll Kitten?
We have set out to provide the ultimate guide to Ragdoll Breeders and finding a Ragdoll Kitten. As a part of this initiative we will be updating this hub page to include informative articles about choosing a breeder, finding a kitten, things you’ll need for your first year as a new owner and so much more.
Ragdoll Breeders in Canada
Canadians love their cats, and because they have to spend long winters inside Ragdolls make the perfect furry companions.
There aren’t a lot of breeders in Canada, but we have resources for the country and for each province. We also want to make sure that people know they can ship a kitten or cat from the USA as well. There are some issues and things you need to do but you can check out the information in our shipping cats by air article.
Ragdoll Associations, Clubs and Rescues.
We have done the research for you. All of the main Ragdoll associations, clubs and rescues will be included. From this hub page, you will be able to find information about each one, from the main international associations to your local club.
We also believe strongly in rehoming and rescuing pets. On each of the location pages for breeders, you will find local cat rescue information, and if there are any Ragdoll-specific rescues we will include that as well.
The TCIA – https://tica.org/
The TICA or The International Cat Association is the world’s largest genetic registry of pedigreed and domestic cats.
“The International Cat Association (TICA), encourages its members to be caring, responsible cat owners and promotes the health and welfare of all domestic cats,” said TICA President Vickie Fisher. “TICA is excited to partner with Trupanion to help us fulfill this mission.”
The RFCI – http://rfci.org/
The objective of the Ragdoll Fanciers Club International shall be to promote the interest of breeders, exhibitors and owners of Ragdoll cats and the welfare of all cats in general always keeping in mind what is beneficial to the cat.
As per their website. They also have a list of breeders and other information all about the Ragdoll cat.
THE CFA – https://cfa.org/ragdoll/
The Cat fanciers Association is more of a resource for all cat breeds, not just for the Ragdoll Cat. The first two associations are more specifically about the Ragdoll cat. The CFA does however have a page dedicated to the Ragdoll cat which you cat find in the link above.
Older Ragdoll Cats for Adoption
Another great way to become a Ragdoll Cat owner is to adopt an older cat that has either retired out of breeding, or its owner has passed on and the cat has become available. This is actually how I got my current cat, Maya.
There was an elderly gentleman that was a friend of a friend and he had to enter into an assisted living situation in a seniors home. As that transition was happening none of his kids were able to take the cat.
So my friend asked if I wanted to adopt them, and at the time I was actually looking for a new cat. Maya was 12 at the time and Grandma Cat was 22. So I adopted them.
These kinds of arrangements aren’t always easy to find, but they are out there, especially with COVID there are a lot of people that have passed away and pets need new homes.
