How to use this Canada breeder directory

Choose your province first, then compare nearby provinces if you can travel. Each regional page identifies the breeder’s stated location and links to its official website or registry profile. Advertising delivery to a province does not mean a cattery is based there.

A working website is not proof that a breeder currently has kittens or meets a particular standard of care. Some websites have recent dated litter updates; others are live but ask buyers to enquire directly. We note older information where it affects how a listing should be read. These are research starting points, not rankings or endorsements.

What changed in this review

We retained four existing listings with live websites, corrected breeder names and locations, added 14 listings, and removed an unreachable website whose current operation could not be verified. Fixed price and deposit figures have been replaced with links to the breeders for current written terms.

Before you reserve a kitten

  • Request a recent conversation or live video call, the breeder’s location and information about the kitten’s parents.
  • Ask for the kitten’s registration details, veterinary records and the parents’ documented health screening. Review the documents with your own veterinarian if you have questions.
  • Read the written contract, deposit and refund terms, what the price includes, and the agreed collection date before paying.
  • Discuss socialisation, food, litter habits and the support offered after the kitten comes home.

Comparing kitten prices and travel costs

Request an itemised current quote from each breeder. Compare registration paperwork, veterinary records, any included procedures, supplies and transport costs alongside the kitten price. Ask when a deposit becomes payable, whether it is refundable, and what happens if the planned litter or collection date changes.

For an out-of-province kitten, agree who is responsible for transport, the handover location and any weather-related delays. Check current travel requirements with the carrier before booking. Do not assume a breeder’s old delivery page reflects today’s arrangements.

Frequently asked questions

Does every province have a verified breeder?

No. This review found usable primary-source listings in eight provinces. Our Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador pages explain that gap and link to regional alternatives. An empty local list does not establish that no breeders operate in the province.

Are all listed breeders currently selling kittens?

Availability changes. A dated litter update provides stronger evidence of recent activity than an undated website, but you still need to contact the breeder. We have not contacted breeders on your behalf or independently inspected their facilities.

How do I report a changed or missing listing?

Use our contact page and include the breeder’s name, province and official website or registry profile. A current primary source helps us check the location and listing before adding it.
